I bought a portable xm radio. I work in an elementary school & I’d like to listen to it while I work. Any suggestions that will help with reception inside the building?

If you can hang the antenna out a window would probably help since it need to see the satellite. If you have an internet connection, you can listen online.

I’ve had the same issue with mine while working inside. As with any antenna it’s best to get it up as high as possible. Also, with satellite signals (direct tv included) you get the best reception when it’s pointing South. Hope that works.

Might not be all that easy, but here’s a suggestion or two.

I’ll assume you’ve been to the website and know which direction you should point the antenna according to which quadrant of the country you are in? If not, do so. Then find a way to get the antenna out a window pointing in that direction, even if you have to attach an extension wire to it. Someone in the engineering dept. may be able to help.

If you decide to “extend” the wire, have someone who knows their way around such things help you. I have no idea what kind of wiring is inside the coating.

As a last resort, call tech support. XM has the best in the biz.
