I am about to move to a place were they do not have dsl or cable to my knowlege, but I have heard that you can get satellite dish tv, and get all the cable chanels, and you can get high sped internet through the satellite. Is it anywere near dsl or cable, ie can I stream video and music etc.

I believe it is considered Broadband…which means that is should be pretty fast…or at least fast enough to be considered Broadband.
The Tech school I went to operated there network and Internet access thru satellite.

Satellite Internet connections is slower than Cable and also a little slower than DSL (but not by much). But it is way faster than dial-up.
Yes you can stream video.
The downside to satellite (dish) is the cost per month (I have already seen $190/ month) and the constant lost of signal.
You can try the new services from Verizon, I have seen good things with these.

Depending on your DSL you had somewhere between 400 - 800 kb/sec internet. Cable is 1000 kb/sec. Note, these are theoretical and you usually don’t get max. Satellite is about the same as DSL when downloading, but slows down when uploading. (DSL is slower uploading as well.)
In all, I would suggest any speed difference will not matter.
EXCEPT - There is a pretty major lag between the upload and download commands. (The signal is traveling a long way) So satellite is no good for on-line gaming or other tasks that require instant response. Also, there other limitations you don’t normally see with DSL or cable.
Having said all that, your only other option will be a modem that won’t get over 56 kb/second.
Hope this helpds
