Open Question: Will everything be “on demand” in the future?
I was just thinking, in the future, wouldn’t it be nice if every show ever created was on demand? No channels, you just go to a menu, choose the show and episode you want to watch, and that’s it. You could still subscribe to a cable or satellite company, and individuals networks could stay intact, but instead of having a channel, they would just own the rights to particular shows. This would keep their ratings going. I’m no expert on TV, so maybe this wouldn’t be logical, but it seems like it could make everyone happy. They might be able to work it out so that you have to pay for rarer shows or certain movies so that networks such as HBO and the DVD companies wouldn’t lose revenue.
