SBC Communications shows interest in DirecTV

SBC Communications has disclosed that it is considering acquiring satellite-TV provider DirecTV. SBC is a large regional phone company. SBC’s interest in a satellite TV provider is seen as a response to the competition phone services are receiving from cable service providers.
