My xm is portable and i have a antenna that is placed in the car . Most of the time i have to hole it to get ride of the static. How would i go about getting rid of the static. I heard speaker wire connected to it would help? This is not a fm tuner that is in a tape deck, this is a stand alone unit. Thanks

Look for an FM-direct adapter for XM; they’re available at most places that sell XM radio units. This allows you to make a direct connection to the antenna plug at the back of the factory radio. It will clear up your static problems completely. You may also need to purchase antenna adapters, depending on the type of vehicle you own.
